A Hero

Reflect on the meaning of the statement from the Talmud.  “He who saves one life, it is as though he has preserved the existence of the entire world.”

I think that saving one life can preserve the existence of a human race. In the article “Rescuing Jews” a man named Oskar Schindler was a Nazi Party member who helped many Jews escape the gas chamber. Oskar saved about 1,200 people from gas chambers. Another man named Raoul Wallenberg fought SS officials and saved more than thousands of Hungarian Jews by supplying Jews with drivers’ licenses and forged documents  for Jews without identity papers. These two people preserved the existence of the entire world by saving a lot of Jews. There were even groups and communities that took their risks and saved many Jews. A group called Zegota saved about 100,000 Jews but 210 Zegota members were executed. Zegota provided hiding places, food, documents, and medical care. All these groups and and people preserved the existence of the world by helping and saving Jews or any kind of people.

  2. I agree with you Estevan, if you preserve one life you just preserved the world because once you save one life they can live on helping more and more people and soon you just started something big by just a small good deed.
