“Strength Through Discipline, Strength Through Community, Strength Through Action.”
pg. 65 -Mr. Ross pg. 92 -Brian Ammon
I think that all the Wave stuff and motto has gotten into Brain’s head. Brian used this quote when he was in a fight with another football player on the team. Brian got into the fight because the other football player was not going with the Wave idea. I think that Brian thinks that he is following orders from the Wave motto, but he does not know what he is doing because he is not thinking. By the way, when Brian was saying the motto of the Wave it seemed like it was not like him when he was saying it. Brian was like a different person when he said it. Mr. Ross is taking the Strength thing a little too far because all his student are abusing the motto and using it in a bad way. Mr Ross has been taking control of the power he has on his student and the students use that power on other people.
This quote reminds me of Hitler during WWII. Hitler had mottos which created his German military stronger and better. During WWII, even the Nazis followed Hitler’s motto and let the word out. In the story The Wave, Mr. Ross made the motto, and later on in the book the motto got out from one class and into the entire school. Brian used the motto that Mr. Ross had made in class. Mr. Ross and Hitler both made a motto that made The Wave or Nazis bigger and stronger. Both quotes or mottos they made did come true. Hitler quotes (click here to see Hitler quotes) were all true on what he said and believed which got him the power to control. Mr. Ross’s quote and Joseph Stalin’s quotes are almost the same but have the same energy in them. Stalin had quotes (click here to see Stalin quotes) that lifted the Russian military and the country which woke them up. Stalin, Hitler, and Mr. Ross had mottos that were strong but it lead to evil ways.
And you need follow2ers w2ho either do not think or who are fearful of thinking.

I think one of the ideas I read in your entry are the there has to be some type of thought process that happens to someone to keep them committed to a cause - whether good or bad. I understand that to be propaganda and that it has impacted some of the great thinkers from our time, at least from my experience.
ReplyDeleteThe Nazis did follow Hitlers beliefs through his mottos. He was supposed to have been a very convincing and charismatic speaker, making it hard not to believe that what he was saying was true.
Both The Wave and Hitler and his team were able to become bigger and stronger because many believed in the movement the mottos created, don't you think? The mottos got folks to believe, to move towards Hitler and The Wave's goal.
