“This whole thing had just gone insane. Even some of The Wave members like Brad knew it was insane. ‘Brad,’ she said. ‘Why are you doing this if you know it’s stupid? Why are you apart of it?’” - Laurie, p. 102, The Wave
I think that Brad and David and the other Wave members stayed in the Wave because they were so controlled by Mr. Ross that they didn’t think about leaving. I think that leaving probably wasn't an option because if they tried to leave they would get into trouble or get banned, I think it’s crazy that they know there being brainwashed but they're not doing anything about it. Even though the kids are being taught in class about how it was like in Nazi Germany, it would be hard to get out because other members think it’s cool, fun, but the members don’t know that it’s just an experiment and you think it’s real. Laurie and Mr. Ross both know it has gone too far, it has gone out of control because kids are getting into fights, and nobody is stopping The Wave. Most people would try to get out of it if they knew what was happening but some people think the Wave is real and they would follow like people did with Hitler.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you Zane, because Hitler did dehumanize the Jews by putting them in concentration camps, and death camps. He made sure they felt dehumanized and didn't belong. He treated them as animals.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand what you mean when you say " This is what Hitler did to Jews because he made propaganda that would make the Jews feel like they were special" because he didn't make them fell special but like nothing
ReplyDeleteAustin he made them feel speacial because he used propaganda that sounded nice for ex: when we went to the Holocaust museum i saw a poster that said something like carry as much as you can in two hands so you can ride the "Speacial Train."
