The establishment of ghettos marked the end of freedom of movement for Jews. Write about what freedom means to you in your life and what you think it would mean to lose it. (Echoes and Reflections)
Freedom means a lot of things. To me freedom is hanging out with friends, having a good time, and when you're with your family being nice to each other. Freedom is getting the right to do what you want as long as you're responsible. When you lose freedom it’s like when you lose all hope and you can never get it back again. I think hope and freedom can mix because if you don't have hope you can lose your freedom. When the Jews lost their freedom they couldn't do anything to stop it, unless they could escape the ghettos without getting caught. In the movie The Pianist, Wladyslaw wasn't able to go into stores and be on sidewalks because he was Jewish. This shows how they lost their freedom because they got moved to the ghettos with lots of other people and it was hard to live in. When they had to live in ghettos most people had severe oppression and kids couldn't go to school, Jew couldn't come in contact with anyone else. Many of them would die in the first couple months.
What would you do if you lost freedom?
I agree Freedom is important, without freedom it can be really tough. I like how you made a connection to the Pianist. Good Job!
ReplyDeleteGreat job connecting the movie with the real thing.
